AMRITSAR: District forest department rescued a Sambar - one of widely spread species of deer- from a farm house on Monday. Businessmen and agriculturist Rajan Gill told TOI that on Sunday he had found an injured Sambar in a drain situated near to his farm house. The Sambar was removed from the drain and kept in the farm house and the department of forest was contacted to take the Sambar to some safe place.
District forest officer NS Randhawa told that Sambar deer were found in Kandi area or in the margin land along the Indo Pak international border having forest cover. He informed that when Sambar comes out of the forest cover they were chased by stray dogs or human beings and were often injured. He said they would provide treatment to the Sambar and would leave him back in his natural habitat.
