"The state is in urgent need of a strong regional party and KJP would fill the void I want central leaders to run to me to seek support as they do with Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi," he said while addressing elected and defeated KJP candidates of the urban local body (ULB) polls held at Bangalore Palace Grounds on Thursday.
Leaving behind poor show of the party in the just concluded ULB polls, Yeddyurappa predicted that his party would play a vital role in next government formation as it was capable of emerging as formidable regional outfit.
Batting for formation of united front, Yeddyurappa said he was holding talks with large sections of people including leaders in politics, academics, writers and pro-Kannada leaders to urge them to join KJP and bolster its electoral prospects. "There is a need for a sort of united front in the state by inviting leaders from various parties and organizations which will be led by KJP," he added.
The ruling-BJP also held a district office-bearers meeting to take stock of party's defeat in civic polls and also to strategize for coming assembly polls, including identifying the candidates.
