"Not the entire countrymen but I have targeted to mobilise and organise at least six crore people before re-launching my agitation at Ramleela Maidain in New Delhi in December next. It will be the final crusade to compel the government for introducing the Jan Lokpal", said Anna while addressing a charged gathering of lawyers at Central Bar Association's (CBA) auditorium here on Tuesday. Anna was here in course of his Jantantra Yatra.
He said that the countrymen have also started realising that party system has crushed the dream of actual democracy in the country. "Everyone is well aware about the Congress's lust for power and this party is well aware that the issue of Jan Lokpal can sink its ship in coming parliamentary election", added Anna
Had there been a real democracy in the country, he said, the present finance minister P Chidambaram, who was in the capacity home minister when he sent Anna to Tihar Jail during his last agitation in order to crush his agitation, could be found in jail for his bid to crush a democratic movement. "The politicians like Kapil Sibbal continued cheating the Jan Lokpal crusaders for months until the proposal of including experts from public in the committee formed to finalise the structure of Jan Lokpal bill was turned down completely last year", said Anna.
He said that the people sitting in government tried to make mockery of a democratic movement because the country could never succeed in experiencing the real democracy event after becoming independent and republic as after independence the place of Britishers was replaced by political parties. He said that there is no provision of party system in constitution as the parliament and assemblies were formed for public representatives, who can be anyone from the public. "But in existing system these parties have changed the definition of democracy which used to be `of the people, for the people and by the people'. It is a complete violation of the constitution and the same reason is allowing the corruption to flourish and patronised", added Anna.
Sharing his experience of his current movement for mobilising the people for his next agitation at national capital, he said that the crowds turned up in his public meetings in Punjab, Haryana, Rajsthan, Uttarakhand and now in UP is generating hope that when he would be sitting on stir at Delhi the countrymen will come on roads once again to build pressure on the government on Jan Lokpal issue.
