Intermittent rains were witnessed in parts of Delhi today which proved inadequate to give any respite to the residents from the prevailing humid conditions.
According to meteorological department, the national capital received 0.9 millimetres rains.
The day temperature settled at 35.5 degree Celsius today which was one notch above normal and significantly up from previous day's 32.7 deg C.
Minimum temperature was recorded at 26 deg C, one point below normal. Humidity oscillated between 63 to 92%.
In Uttar Pradesh, some parts received moderate to heavy rain and major rivers have registered an upward trend.
Kakrahi in Siddharthnagar district got 110 mm rain, while Lucknow and Bareilly got 50 mm rain.
The Ganga river continued to flow close to danger mark at Fatehgarh, Kannauj, Ankinghat (Kanpur Dehat) and Kanpur and was rising all through its course from Ankin Ghat to Ballia, sources in Central Water Commission (CWC) office said.
The Yamuna river was also in spate, flowing close to the red mark at Prayag Ghat (Mathura), while the Sharda river was flowing above the danger mark at Palia Kalan, they said.
The Ghaghra river continued to flow above the red mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya, Turtipar in Ballia, CWC sources said.
Rain continued to remain elusive in most parts of Punjab and Haryana leading to humid conditions.
In Punjab, Amritsar had a high of 34.2 deg C while Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 34 and 34.2 deg C.
Chandigarh recorded 34.6 deg C. Mercury in Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul of Haryana settled at 35.2 deg C, 33 deg C and 34.6 deg C respectively.
