NEW DELHI: Even as new routes such as through China's Xinjiang province emerge for pushing in fake Indian currency notes (FICN) across the border, Pakistan has kept the heat on traditional routes such as Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force on Friday seized a huge consignment of FICN worth Rs 4.96 lakh along with arms and ammunition and two sim cards of Pakistan near the international boundary of Indo-Pak border in Jammu.
According to sources, on the night August 2, 2013 at about 2.30 am, troops of 193 Battalion BSF deployed in border outpost Chawani in RS Pura, district Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir observed suspicious movement of two persons around the border fence. On closer examination it was found that some people had thrown a plastic packet from Pakistan side into India taking advantage of the dark. The packet when examined revealed FICN worth Rs 4.96 lakh in 496 notes of Rs 1,000 denomination. The packet was also found to contain a .30 calibre pistol, one magazine, seven bullets and two sim cards of Pakistan. The seizure has once again revealed how Pakistan continues to relentlessly push FICN into Indian territory through various routes to weaken India's economy. Over a month ago, Indian agencies apprehended two consignments of Rs 30 lakh each couriered from China but originating in Pakistan. While one courier was sent from China's restive Xinjiang province, the other came from Hong Kong. The development has raised the eyebrows of intelligence agencies which believe Pak spy agency has developed considerable footprints in China.
