BJP asked to transfer the'booth scam case' to CBI

CHANDIGARH: Local wing of Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday strongly condemned the slow progress in the Booth Scam investigation, alleging that UT administration is deliberately lingering on the issue. The BJP said that investigating agencies have proved to be anti-poor and hand in glove with the powerful leaders of the corrupt Congress regime.

BJP leaders said it was in the year of 2011 when former additional deputy commissioner-ADC-of Chandigarh PS Shergill submitted his enquiry report and recommended sealing of the relevant record, thorough CBI enquiry and action against both the fake allotees as well as the master minds behind the scam the local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ex city mayor Pardeep Chabra.

They further said that however almost two and half years later the Estate Office has issued show cause notice to only 9 of the 40 alleged fake allotees. Estate Office is reported to be still seeking the bank account details of the others.

Leader of BJP further said that on behalf of the residents of Chandigarh and the poor who were deprived of their genuine right to get these booths Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh demands to know the reasons for not entrusting this case to the CBI? At whose behest was the record not sealed and kept open for possible tempering? Who will be answerable if this record is found manipulated?

That there is a huge political pressure to pull wool over the eyes of the innocent public is evident from the fact that 28 months has been too short a time to get bank details of just 40 persons. The first two recommendations of CBI enquiry and action against the powerful political persons who engineered this entire scam have been brushed under the carpet.

BJP demanded that these questions of the citizens of the city be replied to. The people of Chandigarh will not tolerate corruption in this city that they hold close of their hearts and demand that the perpetrators of this crime be brought to book and justice be done to the poor genuine potential allottees.
