GOHANA (Sonipat): Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday announced a series of financial and social welfare schemes for all sections of the society a year ahead of the assembly election in the state.

He promised to fill about 80,000 government posts including 15,000 meant for the Scheduled Castes and backward castes in the next one year.

Addressing a mammoth Haryana Shakti rally in his political fort, which is dominated by the jat community, Hooda said that the state government has decided to have a corpus of Rs 300 crore to provide 600 types of free medicines and other medical tests free of cost to the needy.

In his bid to woo young women voters, the chief minister also announced free bus passes for all college and school going girls. Lashing out at his opponents within the party and outside, Hooda said that he proved everyone wrong who doubted whether he could run the government for a month or a year.

"We completed full term and now we are back in power for the second term. I am confident we will be back to power if you all are with me," he said. Barring UPA minister Kumari Sheilja and Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Singh almost all leaders were present at the rally.
