MYSORE: Distribution of pamphlets by dalit activists at the UOM campus urging people to prevent Narendra Modi from winning elections has run into a controversy with Namo brigade activists seeking action against the people including a couple of teachers involved in this anti-Narendra Modi campaign .
On Wednesday, activists of Karnataka Dalit Sahitya Academy carried out a campaign called "Save India" in which they distributed pamphlets against Narendra Modi and BJP. Many activists and litterateurs who participated in the campaign strongly urged the people who were handed over the pamphlets not to vote for BJP and involve themselves in a campaign urging the people not to vote for BJP.
K Gokul Goverdhan the convenor of newly founded Namo brigade said they have filed a complaint against the people who campaigned against Modi at UOM to the UOM authorities and sought a disciplinary action against them." Such a political activity on the University campus is against the law and will spoil the academic atmosphere at the seats of higher learning" he said and added: the activities of the so called progressive elements is highly condemnable .
He said the UOM should not have allowed the people indulge in such a political activity and "we have filed a complaint against dalit activists". "We have also decided to take out a bike rally on Saturday afternoon in favour of Modi" he claimed, adding that UOM should not allow such political activity on the campus.
Meanwhile UOm Registrar C Basavaraj said they have received a complaint and going through it. "I will consult the VC and go through the rules before initiating any action against the people who carried out the campaign" he said adding that the UOM is against any political activity on the campus." A UOM teacher is also involved in the campaign and we will go as per the law," he added.
