The youth who disrupted the news conference identified himself as Saif Jafari from Bijnore. He claimed himself to be a spokesman of Mulayam Singh Yadav Youth Brigade. He was detained by the police, but was released later as Vishwas refused to press charges.
Vishwas described the incident as an attempt of opposition parties which feel threatened by his party's rise. He refused to take security. He said that he has already apologized for the poems which were rendered by him in various "kavi sammelans" few years ago when he was not into activism and politics. "I never said anything intentionally to hurt somebody", he said.
"Recording of all these poems are on YouTube. Nobody found them objectionable till I entered politics. They are now being made an issue by elements who divide people on caste and communal lines. These elements are afraid of Aam Aadmi Party's anti-corruption campaign," he said.
Vishwas was addressing news conference in Lucknow after presiding over a function in which over 2,000 traders joined.
The news conference was disrupted by a youth who shouted slogans against Vishwas. He was also carrying a poster slamming Vishwas for his poems against Imam Hussein and Lord Shiva. Vishwas is AAP's candidate for Lok Sabha election from Amethi who will contest against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
Vishwas also said that BJP is comparing its prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi to Lord Shiva. "In Modi's Varanasi rally, BJP leaders raised slogans har har Modi. Hindus since ages have been chanting "Har Har Mahadev!" in praise of Lord Shiva. I find this BJP's act is insult to Lord Shiva," he said.
Bedi slams 'janata darbar'
Meanhile, criticizing Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for organizing a "janata darbar" which ended in a chaos in New Delhi on Saturday, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi took a jibe at him over lack of "mature" governance and said such meetings do not happen on the streets or the rooftops.
"All good governance organizes public hearing. Many senior police officers and bureaucrats have public hearings. There is a schedule and method and certainly openness about it. It is not on the streets or on the rooftops. It is organized in their offices. So, public hearings are part of good governance but there is a method to it, there is a purpose and there is a place for it. Therefore, I think that is all about mature governance, it is also about experienced governance, that is what I think is lacking," she said.
A former top cop, Bedi had worked with Kejriwal and was part of Team Anna during the janlokpal movement in 2011 but the two later drifted apart.
Bedi also took to microblogging site Twitter as soon of the news about chaos at the "janata darbar" broke and said "For God's sake, Arvind and Team, Secretariats are not run from rooftops! Please take time to listen/absorb! And then take considered decisions!"
AAP government's much-talked-about first 'janata darbar' outside the Delhi secretariat here on Saturday witnessed chaos and mismanagement, forcing Kejriwal to leave the venue midway as hundreds jostled with each other to register their grievances.
Kejriwal later admitted that if he had not left the meeting midway, there could have been a stampede. He also promised to "streamline" the system so that a similar situation does not recur.
