Vijaykumar, the former Tamil Nadu DGP, was speaking after receiving the 'distinguished alumni award' presented to him by the Madras Christian College (MCC) alumni association as part of the college's 175th year celebrations. Besides Vijaykumar, B Muthuraman, chairman for TATA International Limited, was also honored with the award.
Addressing newspersons after the function, Vijaykumar said the Central Government is drafting a new strategy to ensure a peaceful polling in all states. "We cannot use the same strategy used during the last parliamentary elections. We will work on a new plan and enforce them with the help of the state police heads," Vijaykumar said.
"There are always ups and downs in the security perception. We cannot condemn any safety procedure merely citing one violation. There will be some resilience while implementing any new system to the already existing system. We cannot conclude that the Maoists have taken upper hand referring to one ant-naxal operation," he said.
