RAIPUR: Three CRPF personnel, who were critically injured in the bloody massacre by Maoists at Takbada, near Tongpal, in Sukma district on Tuesday morning were airlifted and brought to the city for medical care at private hospitals.

While Manilal Thakur and Manoj Singh, were admitted to Ram Krishan Care Hospital (RKCH), Ashok Sakai was taken to the MMI Hospital.

According to doctors at RKCH, the two jawans had sustained major multiple abdominal injuries, caused by bullets and IED blasts during the ambush. They were reportedly brought to the hospital at about 3.45pm and were rushed to the ICU for preparations for surgeries.

The director of the hospital, Dr Sandeep Dave, who conducted the surgery upon Manilal, said injuries were precarious and caused by bullets and blast splinters. He said a large area of the abdominal muscles had been damaged and it had to be removed. He said the patient's condition was critical as the abdominal valve was also damaged.

Dr Dave told TOI that he was going in for the surgery of the second patient, Manoj Singh. "His condition too is bad", he said while adding that the exact nature of the damage would be known only on the operation table.
