Pitting brother against brother won’t help BJP’s ambitions: PM’s nephew

INDORE: A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's half-brother Daljeet Singh Kohli joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) at Narendra Modi's rally in Amritsar, Singh's nephew Mandeep Singh Kohli maintained in Indore on Saturday that the saffron party had pitted brother against brother to counter Congress candidate Capt. Amrinder Singh's wave in Amritsar.

Mandeep Kohli was in city to attend a private function where he spoke to media. Levelling allegations of skanky politics on Modi, he said, "BJP is losing the fight in Amritsar. So it is trying to create rift between brothers. This is petty politics of saffron party's PM-in-waiting Narendra Modi," said Kohli.

On being asked about BJP's offer to join the party, he said, "I had received a call from my uncle's son to join BJP, which I refused. We are with Congress and will remain with it."

Commenting on the latest development, he said it will not hamper Congress prospects in Amritsar as Daljeet is not politically prominent. "Capt. Amrinder Singh will win. BJP is taking measures to save its seat in Amritsar," said Kohli.
