Gowda, who secured victory from Bangalore North by nearly 2.50 lakh votes has been rewarded with railway portfolio by Prime minister Narendra Modi. The former CM, who faced tough task in getting BJP ticket than facing Lok Sabha election, said the he has to study all the issues in detail and discuss with Modi the goals ahead.
Asked about the challenges ahead against the backdrop of the Gorakdham train mishap which claimed 25 lives, the new railway minister said the safety was an important issue for railways which has to be taken care of. "I will make every effort to adopt safety measures in the railways. Officials have been told about this and meeting will be conveyed to discuss about the safety issues. I will try to resolve the problems compounding the department."
On the bullet train, the concept being one of the dreams of the Modi, Gowda said concept has already been emphasized by the PM during his election campaign. "Certainly, I will discuss with him and get going. It is another important subject before me," he said.
When asked about setting right the issues that are plaguing the department, Gowda maintained that he has to study all the issues in details and discuss with the PM the goals ahead. "I will discuss with PM what is his idea and which aspect we should give focus. I need another 10 days time to come before the public to explain what is the road map before me."
