Aziz Qureshi takes oath as Uttar Pradesh governor

LUCKNOW: Uttrakhand governor Aziz Qureshi was administered oath of office on Monday as the governor of Uttar Pradesh following the resignation of B L Joshi.

Aziz Qureshi has been given additional charge of UP.

Chief Justice of the Allahabad high court, Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud administered the oath to Qureshi at a function organized at Raj Bhawan here on Monday evening.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, former chief minister N D Tiwari, several ministers, MLAs, senior bureaucrats and police officers were present on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, outgoing governor Joshi, who had resigned last week, was given a warm send-off at Raj Bhawan.
