Bifurcation burden: Chandrababu Naidu's swearing in as AP chief minister to cost Rs 1.5 crore

HYDERABAD: The swearing in of N Chandrababu Naidu as chief minister of the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh will cost the state exchequer Rs 1.5 crore. The huge expenditure is necessitated because Naidu decided to have the swearing-in function at a huge expanse of land between Vijayawada and Guntur on June 8, 2014. Though Hyderabad will be the joint capital of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (birfurcated Seemandhra), the TDP president has opted to take oath at a place which is being talked about as the possible capital area of the state.

Telangana's first chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao took oath at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on June 2 along with his team of ministers.

The Andhra Pradesh home department on Thursday issued a government order releasing Rs 1.5 crore for expenditure relating to Naidu's swearing in following a request from the director general of police. The amount is for payment of food charges, hiring of private vehicles, supply of food, water, butter milk under 'diet charges', hiring of APSRTC buses, providing cameras, video cameras and shamianas.
