Haryana to witness contest between BJP and Congress: Hooda

CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Thursday that the expectations of the people with which they had given mandate to the BJP in the country were already turning into resentment and it would continue to grow in days to come.

Hooda was addressing a largely attended workers meeting at Sonipat. President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Ashok Tanwar, secretary, All India Congress Committee (AICC) and co-incharge of Haryana affairs, Asha Kumari and a number of senior Congress leaders were also present on this occasion.

He exhorted the party workers to gear up for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in the state. "It would prove to be a daunting task for the central government to fulfill the promises made to the people by the BJP and Narendra Modi during the Lok Sabha elections", said Hooda.

Hooda said that Haryana was much ahead of Gujarat in terms of development and to support his observations, he also gave comparative statistics of various development works in both the states.

Speaking on the occasion, president, HPCC, Ashok Tanwar stressed the need to further strengthen the organization and said that people should be made aware of various development works carried out by the present state government during the last nine years.

Later on, while interacting with the media persons, Hooda said that in the ensuing assembly elections, the main contest would be between Congress and the BJP whereas the INLD would be wiped out.

In reply to a question, Hooda said that he was still firm on his statement that youth should be made party candidates on 50 % seats in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.

In reply to a question, secretary, All India Congress Committee (AICC) and co-incharge of Haryana affairs, Asha Kumari said that as a result of complaint of sabotage and indiscipline in the party during the Lok Sabha elections, the district and block level units of the party have been dissolved.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker Kuldeep Sharma, chief parliamentary secretary Jaiveer Singh, MLAs namely Jagbir Singh Malik, Shrikrishan Hooda, Jaitirath Dahiya and BB Batra and other senior Congress leaders were also present on this occasion.
