"I convey my congratulations and best wishes to you for a very successful tenure as chief minister. I am sure that under your stewardship the state of Andhra Pradesh will reach new heights of prosperity and development," Jayalalithaa said in her message.
She had deputed two of her cabinet colleagues to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Naidu. An official press release from the state government said, "The chief minister has deputed minister for housing and urban development R Vaithilingam and minister for transport V Senthil Balaji to represent the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in the swearing-in ceremony."
Jayalalithaa thanked Naidu for an invite to the swearing-in ceremony. "I thank you for inviting me to the function wherein you will be sworn in as chief minister of the new state of Andhra Pradesh. Much as I would have liked to be there in person, I am unable to do so owing to pressing circumstances," she added.
