Budget session may be curtailed by a week

NEW DELHI: The current budget session of Parliament, which was expected to run till August 14, may be curtailed by a week.

A proposal to this effect is likely to come up before the meeting of the Cabinet tomorrow, sources said.

Curtailment of the session is being talked about in view of the fact that there is not much legislative agenda left after the passage of the budget by July 31.

As per earlier plans, Government had intended to take up some of the bills, which have lapsed in the Lok Sabha but were pending in the Rajya Sabha.

The current thinking is against rushing through the measures and taking up the bills for consideration only after having a close look at them.
