The maximum temperature in Delhi registered at 37 degree celsius and the minimum settled at 28.6 degree celsius while 0.9mm rainfall was recorded in the national capital till 5.30pm. The weatherman has predicted light rains and thundershower in the next 24 hours.
Delhiites, however, woke up to a hot and humid morning as the humidity level in the city oscillated between 47 per cent and 75 per cent.
In west Uttar Pradesh, moderate to heavy rain, thunder showers occurred at most places and heavy rain or thunder shower at isolated places in eastern parts of the state in the last 24 hours.
According to the MeT officials, chief amount of rainfall was recorded at 10cms in Gaighat, 9cm in Basti, 8cm each in Muzzafarpur and Bhinga, 7cm in Varanasi among other areas.
They predicted rain or thunder showers would occur at few places in east UP tomorrow as southwest monsoon was active over east UP and normal in western parts of the state.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in Punjab and Haryana as no rainfall activity has been forecast in the two states until tomorrow.
Chandigarh recorded a high of 37 degrees celsius, while Ambala in Haryana recorded 37.4 degree celsius while Hisar experienced a hot day at 41 degree celsius.
In Punjab, maximum temperature in Amritsar settled at 36.3 degree celsius. Patiala experienced a hot day at 38.6 degree celsius, while Ludhiana's maximum settled at 37 degree celsius.
In the desert state of Rajasthan, Kota and Chittorgarh were the hottest places with the maximum temperature settling at 41.9 degree celsius.
Barmer recorded a maximum temperature of 41.5 degree celsius followed by Churu 41.3, Bikaner 41.2, Jaipur 40.5, and Jodhpur 39.8 degree celsius.
Moderate rains occurred in some parts of the state in last 24 hours, and Mahwa recorded a maximum rainfall of 4 cm, followed by Baswa of three cm and Aligarh of 2cm.
Monsoon which arrived in the state on July 3 was inactive and likely to revive in next 48 hours.
