Launching the road development project between Koratgere and Bavali( Keral border) , chief minister said the four lane road between Malvalli town and Bannur will cost Rs 107 crore and this will boost the trade and other activities in these two towns. "All the house owners who lose their houses and shops will be given compensation at market rates," he assured and said Rs 13 crore has been earmarked for this purpose.
Many are saying that Siddaramaiah has converted the poor toiling people into lazy ducks by giving free rice as they are not turning up for works on the fields, government has come out with a scheme to guarantee two square meals for the poor, he said and wanted to know whether all the rich have become lazy as they have enough to eat. " I urge the critics not to belittle the poor by saying so," he said.
Siddaramaiah warned the fair price shop owners to supply 30 kg rice to the poor under the scheme without a miss . If they fail to abide by the government dictum, they will be forced to face the consequences, he said pointing out government's spending of Rs 4500 crore on the scheme.
Chief minister with an intention to corner the critics , particularly the ones who are terming him as anti-dalit, said this present government headed by him belonged to the dalits. "This government has spent Rs 15836 crore on the dalits against Rs 7236 crore spent by previous BJP government," he disclosed warning the officials stern action if they fail to spend the money earmarked for the schemement for dalits.
