LUCKNOW: The apex body of Indian Muslim organizations on Thursday condemned the alleged statement of al-Qaida chief Ayman Al-Zawhiri that his terrorist organization has decided to establish an Indian branch.

Zafarul-Islam Khan, president of the All India Muslim Majlise Mushawarat, the apex body of Indian Muslim organizations, in a press statement, said that Indian Muslims totally reject the statement of the al-Qaida chief and consider it a disservice to the cause of the Muslims of South Asia who do not require such meddling in their affairs by a foreign terrorist outfit.

Khan said Indian Muslims are loyal citizens of their country and they will fight al-Qaida if it ever tried to create a presence here. Indian Muslims, Khan said, are protected by the Constitution and laws of India and do not need help of a foreign terrorist outfit which has caused so much destruction in the Middle East.
