ECI to issue poll notification for RS biennial polls on November 3

LUCKNOW: The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the itinerary of the biennial elections to Rajya Sabha on 10 seats from Uttar Pradesh. The tenure of 10 members of Parliament is ending on November 25. The MPs are: Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta (BSP), Amar Singh (independent), Avatar Singh Karimpuri (BSP), Kusum Rai (BJP), Brijlal Khabri (BSP), Brijesh Pathak (BSP), Rajaram (BSP), Prof Ram Gopal Yadav (SP), Veer Singh (BSP) and Mohammed Adeeb (independent). The tenure of senior BJP MP from Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshiyari is also ending on November 25.

According to the statement issued by the Election Commission of India, notification for the biennial elections would be issued on November 3, while the last date of nominations is November 10. Scrutiny of nominations would take place on November 11, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 13. Polling would be held on November 20 (from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm), while counting of votes would be done on November 20 (at 5.00 pm). The poll process would be over by November 22.
