According to reports, a three-member NIA team headed by Radhakrishnanan went to the Nizamabad police station to collect information about Abu Shad and Shah Alam, the natives of Fariha village for some case lodged in 2007.
According to NIA sources, despite the ban imposed on SIMI in 2001 it conducted membership campaign in Kerala in 2007. The intelligence agencies had identified 38 such persons of the district out of whom some are absconding. The NIA team wanted to go to the village, but they were advised not to go there, as it may cause tension in the locality.
The SO Nizamabad Azam Ali Khan when contacted said that it was a routine matter, and the NIA team was here to gather information about the two persons. On the other hand, the founder of SIMI Shahid Badra Falahi, a native of Azamgarh, said that SIMI had conducted no membership campaign after the ban imposed on the organization in 2001.
