Khan Muhammmed Riaz (55), a Pakistani national, electrical officer of Mt Bunga Angsana, suffered acute lower abdomen pain suspected to be appendicitis, and was evacuated by Coast Guard Ship C-404 on Saturday, a Coast Guard statement said on Sunday.
Riaz was shifted to MIMS hospital at Kozhikode for further treatment, it said.
The vessel was proceeding to Singapore from Sohar, Oman, with 29 crew members (India 1, Filipino 2, Indonesian 2, Pakistani 1 and Malaysian 23) onboard carrying cargo-oil tanker, the release said.
On receiving a message for medical emergency, the Coast Guard ship sailed with a medical team onboard for evacuation operation at 2010 hrs on February 7 and first aid was provided.
Despite the rough sea condition, the patient was safely evacuated and brought to Beypore Port at 2350 hrs, it said. On completion of immigration formalities at Beypore Port, the patient was immediately shifted to MIMS hospital by Coast Guard ambulance.
Mt Bunga Angsana continued her voyage to the next port of call on completion of evacuation, the release added.
