Recently, department of AAYUSH, Rajasthan had released an advertisement highlighting remedies to deal with swine flu through alternative medicines along with the contact details of control rooms that have triggered sentiments of alternative medicine practitioners in Madhya Pradesh.
President of Advanced Homeopathic Medical Research and Welfare Society, Dr AK Dwivedi, said, "Union government has created a separate ministry for AAYUSH. Even Rajasthan government is taking help of alternative medicine practitioners in fighting swine flu menace. Due to neglected attitude of state government and no government officer in command, dominance of allopathy practitioners continues. In such a panic situation, government should take help so that preventive medicines can be distributed in schools etc." He further said alternative medicines cure ailment from root and boost immunity.
Joint director, AAYUSH Department, Dr Somendra Mishra said, "Swine flu is a resultant of virus. It attacks those who have weak immunity. Modern medicine doesn't boost immunity but cures the disease. However, Ayurveda works on improving immunity. Those who frequently fall into trap of diseases should follow Ayurveda treatment for complete cure." He said that Union government has created a separate ministry for alternative medicines and we are hoping the same from MP government.
Not commenting on the efficacy of alternative medicine in treating the disease, joint director, health and family welfare department, Dr Sharad Pandit, said, "Union government is following World Health Organisation policy in tackling swine flu. Role of alternative medicine is not mentioned in the policy. I don't want to comment on efficacy of alternative medicine. In acute health problem, modern medicine is working effectively."
