RAIPUR: With reports of increasing number of patients testing positive with swine flu in Raipur, the crowded places like schools, railway stations and bus stands become most vulnerable spots for spread of the disease.

However, considering parents' concern over spread of disease among children, Chhattisgarh School Education Department has issued alert through circular to all private and government school principals to be cautious about symptoms among children and act alert in case of doubt.

Talking to TOI, school education department secretary Subrat Sahoo said, "The circular has been issued to private and government schools, asking principals to keep an eye on children suffering from cough, cold, fever, weakness or any other symptom. Schools would be responsible to immediately inform parents and refer them to hospitals if required."

Warning that no carelessness would be tolerated, the circular said that seating arrangement for such kids have to be made separately or ask the parents not to send the kids to school.

Doctors say that though the situation isn't epidemic, precautionary measure should be taken by parents and schools to encourage students wearing double-layered masks, carry handkerchief and cover nose while travelling in bus. Parents are suggested to give sanitizer or soap to students and ask them to wash hands every few hours and use sanitizers. The masks should be discarded and should not be reused, a doctor said adding that touching the masks would lead to spread of disease.

Despite the fact that the disease spreads mostly due to travellers and those coming from different parts of country, railway station and bus stand have no swine flu screening facility for the passengers.
