DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Congress on Sunday adopted a censure motion against the BJP-led central government alleging that they have misused the CBI to implicate former prime minister Manmohan Singh in order to conceal their failures.

The motion, adopted unanimously at the party's state office meeting attended by PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay and chief minister Harish Rawat, also criticized the Delhi police's alleged snooping on Rahul Gandhi.

"Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has played an important role in development and empowerment of the country. His honesty and loyalty is unmatched. But the central government is trying to tarnish his image out of political slefishness," the motion said.

While expressing their respect for the judiciary, the party alleged that the central government has presented manipulated facts against Singh before the courts.

"Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress strongly criticises the central government for manufacturing this conspiracy and adopts this motion in support of Dr Singh," the motion said.

The party later staged a march from Congress Bhawan here to Gandhi Park.
