In his first reference to the party's crushing defeat in Delhi, Shah on Friday, dwelt more on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which defeated BJP to form government in the national Capital. Referring to the internal strife that has erupted among the AAP leadership, he said, "there is a new party which has formed government in Delhi, which had raised the slogan of jan lokpal to win the elections, but today the situation is such that it has thrown out the party's own lokpal. The party which talked about internal democracy, are picking on people and throwing them out of the party."
Clearly, Shah has decided to go on the offensive against the rival AAP instead of introspecting within the organization on reasons for one of BJP's poorest performances whether in Delhi or elsewhere in recent times. Even seniors leaders in the party have kept from taking up the "unpleasant" issue of the defeat at party for a so far. While the Delhi defeat witnessed rumblings of discontent within the party against decisions of the central leadership and the way they handled the Delhi polls, no one has so far spoken up or asked for any discussion on the issue inside the party.
