Ramalinga Raju who was convicted to seven years imprisonment on Thursday was taken to the jail on the city outskirts much after the time of admissions. Generally, all admissions have to take place by sunset. However, it is the discretion of the jail authorities to admit prisoners after following due procedures.
The prison authorities took some time to process the admissions before sending them into a block. All the convicts will be treated as ordinary prisoners as a petition on behalf of Ramalinga Raju to be treated as special class prisoner was rejected by the court.
Ramalinga Raju's brother, Rama Raju who was also convicted has been given Khaidi no. 4147, according to prison superintendent K V Reddy.
