Briefing reporters on the case, Jodhpur Police said a team will leave for Bhopal on Friday night to continue with the probe and question Asaram Bapu in the sexual assault case.
Police said Asaram had requested for extra time, which has been refused.
We received a fax from Asaram's ashram on Friday stating that he is unable to come to Jodhpur from Bhopal due to the death of a relative and his ill-health, the police said.
Since the deadline for him to surrender ends today, we are sending a team to Bhopal to find out the status of his health, the police said.
If he fails to answer our questions, he will be arrested, the police said.
Earlier, Asaram's son Narayan Sai claimed that his father had booked tickets for a flight to New Delhi on Friday morning but his health suddenly deteriorated because of which the trip was cancelled.
In Ahmedabad, an application was moved on behalf of Asaram before the Gujarat high court for transit anticipatory bail.
Asaram's counsel Sudhir Nanavati withdrew the bail plea after Justice A J Desai indicated that he was inclined to reject it.
