BANGALORE: While the BJP is in upbeat mood in Karnataka, the Congress and JD(S) has maintained that results in the four states will have no bearing in Karnataka in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday maintained that Congress suffered setback in the assembly polls owing to local factors and there was no Narendra Modi wave in it. "The assembly results are neither reflective of the political mood in the nation nor will have an impact on the Lok Sabha polls early next year. Just because we are down, it doesn't mean we will not win the parliamentary polls. The outcome of polls in four states will not have an iota of effect on the state politics," he said.

Defending outgoing Delhi CM Sheila Dixit, Siddaramaiah said "didn't she rule for 15 years?" he questioned. Adding he said that Congress has lost polls in the past and has learnt lessons. "We need to examine as to why we lost the polls. Parliamentary polls are a different ball game. For one, issues will be different. Loss cannot be attributed to any one leader but is a collective failure," the Karnataka CM said.

Countering him, state BJP presidnet Prahald Joshi said that the out come of results in four states is a mood of the nation. "The results will have an impact in the coming Lok Sabha polls. The election was big challenge for Narendra Modi as the party was faced first election after his announcement as Prime ministerial candidate. People have voted for national leadership and crowd thronging to Modi's speech is the testimony of his popularity," he said. On Karnataka Joshi maintained that the results will have positive and strong impact in the state as well. "It is too early to predict the number of seats BJP would get in Karnataka in coming Lok Sabha polls and can confidently tell that the party will retain its number (19 of total 28 seats in the state)," he said.

Former CM and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy said that there was no Narendra Modi wave in the outcome of polls in four states. "Infact the vote share of BJP has reduced in Delhi. When the country's capital itself don't see Modi's wave, no other parts in the country will have it. AAP has eaten away Congress votes. Result of Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan was expected. Results will have no bearing on the state. However, the voting trend is against corruption. So the next Lok Sabha polls both the national parties - Congress and BJP - will be routed out."
