"Now, the fight has started between Sena and BJP (over senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari's plans to woo Raj Thackeray -led MNS). Later, it will be between Sena, BJP and RPI and eventually it will spread among other constituents of the 'Mahayuti' (five-party opposition alliance)," state NCP president Bhaskar Jadhav said.
He lauded Sena spokesperson Rahul Narvekar for withdrawing from the fray for Council polls, which led to all nine candidates of various parties, getting elected unopposed.
"Narvekar has shown understanding. I think his party has done injustice to him," Jadhav told reporters. Narvekar is son-in-law of senior NCP leader Ramraje Nimbalkar.
NCP has decided to field ministers Sunil Tatkare and Suresh Dhas from Raigad and Beed Lok Sabha constituencies, he said. The party's candidate from Maval seat would be declared in two days, he added.
To a query on NCP leader Deepak Kesarkar declaring that the party would not campaign for Congress in coastal Sindhudurg during the ensuing polls, Jadhav said, "this is an old issue. He said these things before elections were announced."
Asking hailstorm-affected farmers to "understand" the (government's) difficulty in (declaring) relief due to Election Commission-related issues, Jadhav asked opposition parties not to make political capital of the natural calamity.
Jadhav said RPI (Khobragade) president and former legislator Upendra Shende has announced support for NCP nominees in the state for the Lok Sabha elections.
