SRINAGAR: National Conference president and Union minister Farooq Abdullah lost to PDP's Tariq Hamid Karra by a margin of 42,280 votes in Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
Abdullah, seeking re-election from the constituency, polled 115643 votes against 157923 by Karra, a former finance minister in the then PDP-led government in the state.
This is for the first time Abdullah had lost election in the state since joining active politics in early 1980s.
