Last week during his visit to Pimpri Chinchwad, Pawar also said that there are legalities regarding the issue of unauthorized constructions and that the elected office-bearers should ensure that the legal provisions are strictly adhered to.
The BJP unit however said that the statement is a mere poll promise to woo the voters, and that the government is trying to mislead the people. The government has formed a committee to resolve the issue of unauthorized constructions in Pimpri Chinchwad, the party said. However, no recommendations have been made by the committee.
The party also said that during one of his visits to Pimpri Chinchwad one and half years back, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan had also said that a resolution would be issued by the government about regularization of unauthorized constructions. The resolution has not been issued, the party added.
Recently, at the general body meeting of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, all parties criticized the penalty tax on unauthorized constructions. Most corporators made an appeal to people not to pay the penalty tax.
