NEW DELHI: The BJP-ruled Gujarat has got maximum number of green clearances for its projects followed by Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra ever since the NDA government came to power at the Centre.
Out of 241 projects from across the country that got environment clearance in the past over six months, 55 projects belong to Gujarat.
Sharing the number of green clearances under the present government, the environment minister Prakash Javadekar informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that environment clearances have been accorded to 35 projects in Andhra Pradesh while 22 projects in Maharashtra got the green nod.
According to state-wise details of project accorded environment clearance during May to November, the ministry has granted green nod to 18 projects from Madhya Pradesh, 16 from Rajasthan, 14 from Uttar Pradesh, 12 from Karnataka, 11 from Tamil Nadu and 10 from West Bengal.
No approval has been granted to projects from states like Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Jammu and Kashmir during the period, reveals the data presented by the government in the Upper House.
