Health department's committee fails to fix responsibility for the shoddy disposal of CRPF uniforms

RAIPUR: The three-member committee formed by the Chhattisgarh health department to fix responsibility for the insensitive act of disposal of the uniforms of the slain CRPF jawans in a garbage dump after their post-mortems on Tuesday, has failed to arrive at any conclusion and is holding the entire forensic department of the Ambedkar Hospital responsible for it.

The committee, comprising Dr NK Gandhi, Dr Sumit Tripathi and Dr Vineet Goyal, met the forensic department doctors including Dr SK Bagh, Dr Nitin Barmate, individually on Friday and grilled them for answers. While head of Forensic department, Dr RK Singh was not available and two other doctors were on leave.

However, none was willing to take the responsibility and hence the committee could not pinpoint the individual responsible for the act that has evoked widespread criticism and outrage.

According to sources, the employees who were questioned by the committee blamed the CRPF for not taking the boots of the jawans along with their bodies on the plea that it would amount to "disrespect of the departed soldiers".

However, the committee found no answers to the disposal of the bullet riddled and blood stained uniforms of the jawans in the garbage dump. Sources said those questioned by the committee also included some employees of the primary and community health centres. Since the committee failed to single out the person responsible for the act, they have decided to hold the entire forensic department responsible for it.

The committee, which was formed on the orders of the Director Medical Education on Friday, is slated to submit its report later this evening.
