BENGALURU: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday maintained that 15.04 acres of land worth Rs 893 crore belonging to BBMP has been encroached. Replying to BJ Puttaswamy (BJP), Siddarmaiah told the legislative council that four acres worth Rs 500 crore has already been recovered and process to recover has slowed down due to pending court cases.
"I have taken special interest in protecting government property. Every Saturday and Sunday a special eviction/recovery drive is being taken by the Bengaluru district administration. As a result huge parcels of land has been recovered in last few months," the CM said.
Water pilferage:
The CM told TA Sharavana (JDS) that the government was in the process of plugging pilferage in water supply in the city. "The pilferage is estimated at 45%. The BWSSB is trying to bring down the pilferage to 15%. This will result in good revenue to the board, which is facing loss," he said.
No lottery:
There are no plans to start resume lottery in the state, Siddaramaiah told Basavarj Horatti (JDS). The state planning board deputy chairman CM Ibrahim had proposed to the government to start a lottery to fund health programmes on the lines of Kerala.
"The proposal has come from the board. But the government is not going to give permission. We are ready to fund the health scheme proposed by the board through its own funds, but not through any other means," Siddaramaiah said.
